2008

HopScotch's 2008 season was a great success and the children from Glenboig had tremendous week going on nature trails, visiting the Sea Life Centre and taking a trip on the cable car.  They also enjoyed horse riding and the seal island cruise which we have added to our programme this year.

Rowena Wilkes was our Project Manager.  She co-ordinated our activities, guided groups on day trips and drove our minibus.  Her patience, enthusiasm and dedication helped to make our programme fun and therapeutic whilst helping to develop confidence and team building skills.

“HopScotch is great!  My favourite part was seeing Ben Nevis.  The talent shows were fun and the back garden is amazing!  My favourite part of the garden is the flying fox.  The rooms are fun and clean and pretty.  Rowena is a great instructor and I made lots of friends.”  Shannon

“The HopScotch holiday was amazing because we went horse riding and went up the mountain.  I loved living in the big house and playing out the back.  The weather could have been better but it was still amazing!”  Sean

“The break made them feel better about themselves.  As a group they now have lovely memories to share and they will remember this holiday for years to come.”  Alison, Glenboig Neighbourhood House

“HopScotch is a brilliant organisation – don’t know what we’d do without you!  Staff are always very helpful and can’t do enough for you.  Rowena is great – the children adored her.”  Jane, East Ayshire Young Carers

We worked with 27 organisations this year.  We welcomed new groups including Drylaw Neighbourhood Centre who support children and their families who are in crisis; Midlothian Young Carers; and Children and Young Peoples Project based in Bathgate who support children at risk of social and educational exclusion.
